The influential Wall Street bank resumed coverage of the athletic industry, saying it expects growth in the fitness industry will translate to swelling profits at big-name athletic and apparel companies. Its first play: telling investors to buy stocks of Washington County-based Nike (NYSE: NKE) and Greensboro, N.C.-based V.F. Corp. Goldman Sachs also put a neutral rating on Portland-based Columbia Sportswear Co. (NASDAQ: COLM). In a 40-page report released to clients, Goldman said the industry's recent growth isn't a fad.
