CSS Spotlight // Drake's Sneaker & Style Evolution
Catching the ear of Cash Money eventually meant catching the eyes of JB. Early on, Drizzy became a favorite among the Jordan Brand fam, getting seeded upcoming retro releases early and often. Launch product aside, he also started flipping samples like 40, showcasing #45 stamped “Concord” 11s and personalized “Columbia” 4s. The CSS favorite also showed range, rocking retros from the past on stage. While touring the album, Drake often performed in various models from Jordan Brand’s “Silver Anniversary” Collection, hooking up the all-white kicks with otherwise all-black outfits. It should be noted that this sartorial risk was panned at the time, but eventually became widely embraced during the peak popularity of the street goth look and resurgence of the white-on-white Air Force 1.
